Frequently ask questions

  • Do I need to be an expert swimmer to take the basic open water diver certification?

No, a basic swimming knowledge is sufficient. More importantly, you should be comfortable in the water.

  • I've found some other dive centers who are cheaper, how come?

As for many other things, you usually get what you pay for. Different dive centers have different priorities in terms of instructor-to-student ratios, service quality, equipment, etc...

If in doubt, we suggest you pay a visit to the dive centers you've pre-selected, it will help you in your decision.

  • Can I dive if I wear prescription glasses?

Yes, you can scuba dive. You will either need to wear contact lenses or procure a dive mask equipped with prescrition lenses.

  • Do I need to be physically fit to scuba dive?

You need to be of "normal" health, but certain physical impairments do not prevent you from passing a diving certification. Upon registration, a brief medical questionnaire will help you assess if you can dive.

  • Do I have to purchase any equipment to take the open water diver certification?

No, dive equipment rental is provided as part of the open water course and included in the course price.
