Open Water Diver Certified - What Now?

Welcome to the incredible underwater world!

You've conquered your Open Water course and are undoubtedly awestruck by the amazing experience. Naturally, you want to keep exploring the depths! But before rushing into the Advanced Open Water course, ask yourself these important questions:

1. Are you comfortable with your current skills?

The Open Water course requires a minimum of 4 dives, which may not be sufficient practice for everyone. If you struggled with any aspects of the course, consider building confidence through leisure dives. Tioman's calm conditions and shallow reefs offer the perfect environment to hone your skills before venturing into more challenging environments.

2. What motivates you to take the Advanced course?

Don't feel pressured by peers. Diving is a personal journey, and certifications shouldn't dictate your pace. Consider a diver with 150 dives who remains an Open Water Diver by choice. Skills, experience, and responsible diving matter more than certifications.

3. How long has it been since you last dived?

If it's been a while, prioritize a leisure dive to refresh your memory and skills. Reread your Open Water manual and practice in a pool before heading back into the open water. Remember, safety stops and other essential skills might fade with time.

4. Have you discussed your readiness with your instructor?

It's your instructor's responsibility to guide you. Don't hesitate to ask for their honest opinion on whether you're ready for the Advanced course or need more practice. Remember, your decision affects not only yourself but also your fellow divers and the instructor.

Embrace your passion for diving at your own pace. By building confidence and prioritizing your skills, you'll become a more responsible and capable diver, ready to explore the wonders of the underwater world in a safe and enjoyable way.

Remember, diving is a journey, not a race. Enjoy every step of the way!
