The Dive Company Method
The Dive Company has been thriving in this industry since 2008; with Rafi leading the charge with 20 years of experience diving and teaching. Scuba Diving for Singaporeans and Singapore-based expats really boomed in 2010-2012, slowing down in 2013 and 2014. At the Dive Company, weekends averaged 15 Open Water students and 8 Advanced Open Water students. The record at The Dive Company was in 2012 where we had more than 80 divers over one weekend. For the crew it was awesome, it was the one and only time we all got to go up together and operate as one big cohesive team.
Since the “golden years” of Singapore diving, students have been decreasing. Between the numerous dive centers in Singapore, plenty now has their certificate to dive. Why dredge up history? Because at The Dive Company, what we have noticed is that most of our divers are coming in to get their entry level Open Water Certification and stopping there. So in the last few years, we have really been asking ourselves, our students, and our crew why and how can we really plant the passion for diving in all of our students.
From our personal experience and track record:
All of our Divemasters and Divemasters (in training) completed their Rescue course with The Dive Company. Our Rescue courses are really fun!
Most of our certified Rescue Divers completed their Advanced Open Water with The Dive Company. Our instructors love their weekend jobs, and it really inspires and motivates students to come back for more.
And we have that have done zero to hero with us. Starting with OW or freshly certified OW and taking the necessary steps to “Go Pro”.
So what is missing link? We need to get our freshly certified Open Water Divers to take the next steps with us to get Advanced Certified.
In this new decade (bar the Coronavirus set back), this is our goal:
To bridge the gap between Open Water and Advanced divers
To be a “safety blanket” for new divers
To empower our divers to be independent and confident after any weekend with The Dive Company
And this is how we do it -
Introducing The Dive Company Method
1.Education First
We ensure our divers not only pass by “PADI Standards” but exceed their standards. Our divers not only pass the necessary exam, they will have a deeper grasp on the theory of diving making our divers competent and independent.
2.Emphasise Safety
With our divers knowing about the physiology and physics of diving, they will naturally be more aware and cautious. We believe that scuba diving is completely safe. But given the sometimes unpredictable conditions nature can throw at us, The Dive Company will ensure our divers know the basics and more about emergency situations.
3.Dive More
TDC will be providing more dive opportunities to different dive destinations. In 2023, we will be adding off-site courses in Bali and Manado for our newly certified divers. Diving is no different from acquiring any other skill; the more you dive the better you are. The Dive Company is taking it a bit further and making sure that your education and experience is thorough and consistent by bringing you to “not-Tioman”, in full theory immersion dive trips (4 day minimums).
With The Dive Company, you are not just a number. We love scuba diving and the ocean and we just want to spread that love and passion. But you also have to understand that you will only get out of it what you put in. When you learn and dive with us, we do expect you to finish your theory before coming to class; we want to answer and explain all the questions that you have. And whatever skill level you are as a swimmer, we will get you certified as long as you are excited to learn and willing to put in the energy.
